Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival was never something that either one of us absolutely had to experience. It is an annual event that historically takes place in the Spring (March - May) which features larger-than-life topiaries, colorful flower gardens, and (of course) food and beverage kiosks.

Since we generally like to vacation to Walt Disney World in September we always end up hitting the Epcot Food and Wine Festival every year. We figured, what’s the difference between the two: one has flowers and the other doesn’t?

Well, as we follow a ton of Disney Instagram accounts, I was soon swayed by all of the posts from Flower and Garden! Epcot is lovely on a normal day, but with all of the colorful flower selfies and food posts, I was intrigued!
My birthday is at the end of March we decided to take a quick weekend trip to see Flower and Garden and spend my birthday in the Kingdom!
Epcot is a pretty park in general, but during the Flower and Garden Festival it is completely transformed into a colorful, fluttering, blooming oasis for green thumbs and those who wish they could be green thumbs! (I am definitely in the latter group, most pretty things that bloom end up brown and dead at my touch. It really is a tragedy.)
All around the Epcot there are beautiful gardens and intricate topiaries to delight everyone!
And when you're finished admiring the gardens, there is food!
For those familiar with Epcot's annual Food and Wine Festival, the food can sometimes feel like an after-thought, but it is still very delicious! The focus at this festival is definitely on the flowers, so if you're main goal is to eat, you should probably stick with Food & Wine.
That being said, most of the food and drink options emphasized "freshness", so everything tasted fantastic!
If you find yourself visiting Walt Disney World at the same time as the Flower and Garden Festival, you should definitely make your way over to Epcot. The flowers and topiaries are very lovely and are worth seeing. However, it wouldn't be worth making a special trip just for that. It would be better to wait until the Fall and catch the Food and Wine Festival.
