The blog has been quiet recently!

Life, unfortunately, can snake its thorned tendrils around you and squeeze until there is nothing but bags under your eyes.

That is what the last half of 2017 felt like at times. There were good times and bad times, but hey that's not new. EVERY year has good times and bad times!

Here is a quick and dirty summary of the second half of 2017.

JULY/AUGUST

We lost Barry's grandmother in August. We had to make a tough family decision in July and moved her into a nursing home for extra medical care that Barry and I couldn't handle on our own anymore. We had been living with her in her house for the past 6 or 7 years and to be honest, its still a little weird to come home from work and not see her shuffling around in the kitchen or in the living room watching the news at an ungodly decibel level. She lived a very full and happy 98 years, so even though we are sad and miss her a whole whole bunch, we know she is at peace now.

SEPTEMBER

We took the trip of my dreams!! Ever since I was a kid I have been obsessed with the UK - London in particular. In September, my dream of finally being there came true! We spent 4 days in London and then took the Eurostar through the Chunnel over to Paris. Unfortunately, our Paris trip got cut short (more to come on that in a later blog), but London was everything I wanted it to be! I can't wait to go back!

OCTOBER

We did a salt float in one of those sensory deprivation chambers! It was real weird but also strangely relaxing? We did a facebook live video about it! See it below:

NOVEMBER

We started demo on our house! After Liz passed, we decided to do some remodelling of the first floor. We knocked down some walls, are fixing troublesome (ok - pretty horrible at times) electric work, and finally FINALLY getting rid of the carpet in the kitchen. We're still working on it now and everything wont be finished until probably the end of spring. This is definitely one of those good and bad things (trust me, washing dishes in your shower might seem glamorous, but its really not), but once its done it will all be worth it!

DECEMBER

December flew by in a flash! Barry took a work trip to LA and that same week I took a road trip to North Carolina to see the Biltmore Mansion at Christmas with my mother. It was super weird to not only be apart during that week, but also to be in two completely new places! Even so, I had a blast exploring Asheville, NC with my mom and Barry got to experience all that sunny LA had to offer!

Now that life is (relatively) slowing down a bit, we're looking forward to 2018. We're planning even more fun trips to Disney (of course) and also some new adventures as well!

I goal for the year is to get better at this blogging thing, so look forward to more blogs about our London trip and maybe even some random thoughts from Barry!

Happy New Year to you and yours - and remember to always Adventure Together!!
